Maldon 1st Team - Two Years Unbeaten In The League

Saturday saw in another win for Maldon 1s as they played a Clacton 1s side, who did fantastically well to travel down with a bare 15 and even continue playing for a chunk of the match with only 13 players on, this cemented an unbeaten league season for Maldon. 

For Maldon 1s, this now means an unbeaten run across all league fixtures for the last two seasons, an incredible achievement! 

Across the 2021/2022 season, 18 out of 18 games were won, tallying up a total of 85 points for the season. 

In the 2022/2023 season 16 out of 16 games were won, finishing the league season with 79 points.

Credit for all these points scored needs to be shared between the backs, who finish off most of the hard work, but also the forwards who have won all their own ball on their put in at the scrum this year, whilst also stealing plenty against the head, and given Maldon front foot ball from set plays which has resulted in great success for the team. 

Out of the 34 players to put on a 1st team shirt this year, 20 of them played through Maldon's youth teams. 

Further thanks for the last two years must go to Coach Judd, his work often going unnoticed, but is appreciated by all! Also, a huge thanks to all the supporters who come and watch, run the touch line and offer poetic words of encouragement from the sideline!

The 1st team still have a cup run to look forward to which starts at the end of March / beginning of April, and the 'Vikings' 2nd Team & 'Abbotts' 3rd Team still have one remaining leage fixture each, next Saturday, where boths teams look to secure 2nd place in their respective divisions! Get down and support both teams at home next Saturday!
