Maldon 'Abbotts' 3rd Team secured a 2nd place finish in 'Division 6 East of Group 1 Automotive Essex Merit League'.
This is a fantastic result for the 3s, who end the leage season with a record of...
Played 8, Won 5, Lost 3
Although other teams in the league may have one or two games to go, the 'Abbotts' cannot be caught!
Being able to get a third team out more regularly this season has been a brilliant achivement for Maldon RFC, especially considering on some weeks there was also a 1st and 2nd team game on. Not many teams in Essex can say that they have been able to do that, so Maldon RFC are extremely proud of the 'Abbotts' players commitment this season.
Contributing to this great result is Gareth Allen, the 3s skipper, who has had to deal with players being called up last minute & having to go to games with enough players to just about make up a full team. This is not an easy job, and one that often goes unnoticed, but a huge well done must given here! In addition, an influx of players with New Years Resolutions to play rugby massively helped the 3s from January onwards. These players were people who are returning to the game, just starting out & also coaches of the youth age groups at the club. This speaks volumes of the great place Maldon RFC is in currently. Without players picking up their boots years after saying they would stop playing, and without new players coming in, the club wouldn't be in as good a place as it currently is.
Well done to the 'Abbotts' on a fantastic league season!
